Who We Are

Sheila Roche-Sweet

I was raised in Renfrew, my father’s hometown. My parents are Francis (Curly) and Carolyn Roche. I have two sisters Lisa Gould and Susan Guyea. I was fortunate enough to raise my children, Laura (Brent Hill) and Eric (Hannah Fraser-Sweet) here with the support of my partner, Ray Donohue. We enjoy spending time at our cottage at Lake Clear, Eganville.

I am the first woman funeral director from Renfrew and have been licensed since 1986. I began my career in funeral services in 1982 with Bob Quinn from the Quinn Funeral Home. The years between Quinn Funeral Home and McPhail & Perkins I worked in various funeral homes throughout the valley. I took a 10 year leave to do supply education and secretarial work at various schools. My passion has always been funeral services. Being in a position to help families navigate through a very difficult and emotional time is very rewarding.

I am the President of Pinnacle Cremation Services and manage the day-to-day operations, with support from Scott.

I believe in offering affordable quality services and just being genuine and honest.

Scott B. Miller

Renfrew will always be home for me, in 1974 my family moved here from Montreal. My father took the position as General Surgeon with the Renfrew Victoria Hospital. I attended St. Thomas the Apostle School, then St. Francis Xavier School and St. Joseph’s High School. I graduated from the Renfrew Collegiate Institute (RCI) in 1987.

I had summer jobs working at the Renfrew Pepsi plant for the Millar family and Haley Industries. Eventually I worked Part time at McPhail & Perkins for John B. Steele and from there my career in Funeral Services took off. In June of 1989 I graduated from Humber College with a diploma in Funeral Service Education. That same month I passed the Provincial Licensing exam and started working as a funeral director for the G. H. Hogle Funeral Homes in Toronto. I took a position as manager with the Humphrey Funeral Home - A. W. Miles Chapel in 1999.

I was appointed to the Ontario Board of Funeral Services in 1998 and served on the board for 4 years. In 2011 I became the Vice President of the Ontario Funeral Service Association becoming President of the Association in 2012. In 2016 I was appointed to the newly created Bereavement Authority of Ontario and currently serve as the Chair of the Funeral and Transfer Services Advisory. For over 20 years I have advocated to ensure consumer protection for bereaved families in Ontario.
